Toronto Doula Group - Labour Doula Mentoring

Becoming a doula is an enormous undertaking.  There are so many training organizations out there to choose from and the content you learn is all fairly similar.  Then you leave your training and can now start working with clients, and that can be a daunting task to find those clients and muddle through the unknown process.  Trainers can help you but they also have all the other trainees to help and support too.  Having a personal mentor can make a huge difference on your success and longevity in this business.

The Toronto Doula Group is proud to introduce a Doula Mentoring Program to offer one on one support to you after you have completed your training.

What Is Involved:

  • Two virtual meetings per month for 6 months.  Topics for the meetings are decided during the first zoom meeting or before the meetings take place.  Meetings would be approximately 2 hours in length, during the day.

  • Phone and/or Text support during business hours, during the week for questions or advice.

  • Listing on the Toronto Doula Group website with $50/client garnered from the listing coming back to The Toronto Doula Group for administration fees.

  • Attending a virtual prenatal class and infant care class, taught by a Certified Childbirth Educator which may be necessary for your certification and will include exposure to pregnant families. Classes currently held virtually during covid shut down of hospital based classes.

  • When you go on call for a client your mentor is available by phone or text to answer questions and give advice, including virtual labour support, even over night.  (Two clients only.)

    • Extra Virtual Birth Support and Debriefing can be purchased for $100/birth

  • Post-birth debriefing after your client's birth to go over how it went, what you learned, what you felt went well, what you feel you could have changed or have done differently and how to manage the postnatal visit. In Person or via telephone.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Greater Toronto Area is preferred, however if outside the GTA any long distance phone calls are the responsibility of the Mentee.

  • Must have completed a Labour / Birth Doula training with one of the approved organizations listed on the Association of Ontario Doulas website.

  • Must be a member of the Association of Ontario Doulas or have proof of doula liability insurance.
