Stephanie Alouche - VBAC Doula

Steph&Donna_edited-1.jpg

Hi! I’m Stephanie Ross Alouche, and it’s seems I’ve become known as The VBAC Doula for the GTA. So, what does that mean? My goal is to walk with families as they navigate birthing after cesarean OR traumatic birth, so they grow their families with support, respect, and JOY!

As a birth doula of twenty years, I have served over 500 families, increasing my focus on VBAC and family-centred caesarean access through those years. Personally. I understand the hurdles and barriers to evidence based care one can face as I too had to work to prepare for my own breech HBAC.  As facilitator of The Birthing Circle and ICAN of Toronto/Durham, I have been thoroughly humbled by the vulnerability and strength of those who have shown up first to ask support for themselves who then stay on for years to support new families coming in to share their stories. I am reminded often that birth and breast/chestfeeding support is community support.

I love to give very few a lot of me, instead of taking on a large number of clients and only being able to offer a snippet of myself during such an important time. I take on one to two clients a month in an effort to keep the care I offer personal and accessible.

I’m a believer in supporting and growing birth work as a profession. I’m so proud to have sat on the board of the Association on Ontario Doulas as the Communication director for the past 5 years.

When I’m not off doing my doula thing, I’m parenting 4 young people who keep me on my toes and in the know about all things TikTok! Three English bulldogs and an exasperated husband also keep my life interesting. Doula, Podcaster, Mother, Wife, Sister and lover of double dutch, life is an adventure!
